Tessa studied at De Montfort University, where she specialized in childrenswear and achieved a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion and Textile Design. She was a UK finalist in a competition run by the British Fashion Council, and was chosen to exhibit her final collection in the New Designer's Exhibition in 1997.
